THE INTERCESSION OF SAINTS

Par 956 states, “Being more closely united to Christ, those who dwell in heaven fix the whole Church more firmly in holiness…they do not cease to intercede with the Father for us, as they proffer the merits which they acquired on earth through the one mediator between God and men, Christ Jesus… So by their fraternal concern is our weakness greatly helped”.

We are taught in Hebrews that Jesus “is able to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them”Heb 7:25,

and again, “Having a high priest over the house of God; let us draw near with a true heart, in full assurance of faithHeb 10:21,22.

The idea that departed saints are needed to intercede on our behalf is completely at variance with Holy Scripture.
